Our Staff
You are the focus of our business. We are here to share our knowledge and expertise to help you solve the problems of improperly fitting dance attire.
I am Nancy Dotsicas, the owner of The Dressing Room, the brick & mortar version of the online Dancer’s Dressing Room. Like so many little girls, my daughter started taking dance lessons at the age of six. As she grew up, it was nearly impossible to find a store that could assist in finding the proper fitting for her required dancewear. On a trip to New York, we visited a store located near Central Park. It was there that I experienced the model of what a dance store should be. In 2002, I opened my first dance retail store. In 2004, that store relocated to its current location in Newark, Delaware.
With 13 years of experience in dance retail, and specialized training in pointe shoe fitting, I believe that every dancer deserves to be safe, stable, and pain free while doing what they love.
My daughter, Lauren Kennedy, grew up to be a professional ballet dancer. She is a soloist with Ballet du Capitole-Toulouse, France. Her husband, Alexander Akulov, is a soloist with Staatsballett Berlin, Germany.
Bretta Fylstra is our assistant manager and an honors student at the University of Delaware. She is a senior, currently studying Biomedical Engineering. She intends to pursue a PhD after graduation, researching biomechanics and prosthetics.
Bretta has been working at The Dressing Room since August 2012, fitting dancers of all ages in leotards and shoes. Bretta has fourteen years of dance experience in ballet, pointe, modern, hip-hop, jazz, and tap. She currently performs with the Delaware Repertory Dance Company (DRDC).
When she is not dancing, Bretta can be found skiing, knitting, reading, crafting, watching So You Think You Can Dance, and going on adventures with her friends. While at home, Bretta treasures the time she spends with her German Shorthair Pointer puppy, Izzy.
